Former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is open to replacing Gareth Southgate as England manager, according to reports.
The 49-year-old has been out of job since being dismissed by Chelsea last month, with a 1-0 Champions League loss to Dinamo Zagreb serving as the final straw.
Tuchel left Chelsea with three trophies: the Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup, and the Club World Cup, as well as being awarded the world’s best club coach in 2021.
Since his departure, the ex-Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain head coach’s future has been clouded in uncertainty, and a return to the Bundesliga has been proposed.
Tuchel was reportedly considered for the Bayer Leverkusen post, but he reportedly turned it down before Xabi Alonso took over.
With current Three Lions coach Southgate under growing pressure, Bild reporter Christian Falk claims Tuchel can see himself as England’s next coach.
While at Chelsea, the German coach guided the development of players like Mason Mount and Reece James, who are now regulars in Southgate’s senior squad.
Southgate has led England to the World Cup semi-finals and the Euro 2020 final since his appointment in 2016, but the 52-year-old has endured a miserable Nations League campaign.

England was relegated to League B after failing to win any of their six games in the 2021-22 season, earning three draws and three defeats against Hungary, Germany, and Italy in League A Group 3.
The Three Lions also went five games without scoring a non-penalty goal until drawing 3-3 with Germany on matchday six, prompting widespread criticism of Southgate’s tactics and squad selection.
The former Middlesbrough manager is under contract with England until December 2024 and will be in charge of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
