“I played the game at the highest level with the best players in history without ever feeling inferior,” he said to Instagram. “Everything that I have and everything that I am, I owe to the beautiful game of football.”

Before spending five years with the Gunners, Szczesny spent 2009–10 on loan at Brentford after joining Arsenal’s academy as a teenager from Legia Warsaw, reports Mail Online.

In his final match for Arsenal, he contributed to the team’s FA Cup victory. He appeared in 181 games for the club overall. Along catcher Petr Cech, he shared the 2013–14 Golden Glove Award.

After spending two years on loan at Roma, he joined with Juventus in 2017. Szczesny and Juventus had decided to end his contract earlier in August.

Throughout his 252 Juventus games, Szczesny contributed to the Italian powerhouse’s three league wins, three Italian Cups, and two Italian Super Cup victories.

“I feel that right now it is time to give all of my attention to my family,” stated Szczesny.
