David de Gea, the former goalkeeper for Manchester United, is still unemployed over seven months after leaving Old Trafford. De Gea, who was once among the highest-paid goalkeepers in the world, doesn’t seem that eager to start playing again.

As the transfer window reaches its last third, Diario AS reports that there is no indication that he will sign for anyone in the near future.
They point out that, despite alleged interest from Real Betis, Newcastle United, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and even United, all of which were dealing with goalkeeping issues, the only real offers he has had have come from Saudi Arabia. However, none have materialized.
The 33-year-old may well have had a shot at making it back into the Spain squad for the Euros this summer under new manager Luis de la Fuente, but has only been employed for two of the international breaks that the Roja coach has been in charge for. It looks as if his hopes of returning for the national side are fading too.
He became a punching bag for the Spanish media, to the point that then-coach Luis Enrique berated journalists for their criticism of him in 2020, saying: “Blaming De Gea has turned into a vice, it turns you all on.”
