A former Premier League footballer has reportedly bagged 16 years imprisonment following his rape act on a woman while she slept.
According to Romford Recorder, Nathan Ashton, 37, who does not have a definite residence, carried out the act early on February 19, 2023, after spending the previous evening at a Shoreditch bar.
On Tuesday, July 16, Ashton, a former youth level player for England, was given the sentence at Reading Crown Court.
Det Sgt Ben Wallen, who led the investigation, said: “Our officers were meticulous in their investigation against Ashton and secured a great outcome as a result.
