Former Liverpool, Leeds and Manchester City striker, Robbie Fowler has seen his contract terminated by Saudi Arabian club Al Qadsiah despite an unbeaten start to life in the league season.
According to UAE based outlet, The National News, the Saudi second-tier team said early on Friday on social media that Fowler’s contract had been revoked. The former England international received appreciation from the team for his efforts since taking over as coach this summer.
Quickly following the announcement of Fowler’s exit, Qadsiah declared that Michel, a former Real Madrid and Spain forward, would take over as his replacement.
It represents an unanticipated shift in the course of events on the east coast.
In his eight league games in charge, 48-year-old Fowler had led Qadsiah to six victories and two draws. His lone loss came in the King’s Cup against Saudi Pro League team Al Taawoun.
The 2-0 triumph over Al Kholood away on Wednesday marked Fowler’s last game in the dug-out. As a result, Qadsiah are one point behind leaders Al Orubah in the league standing.
Before taking the job as manager, the 26-time capped England international was employed by the outfit as a consultant.
