Ex-Premier League Star Claims Fernandes Shouldn’t Be Man United Captain As He Is A ‘Diva’

Former Premier League player, Emmanuel Petit has reportedly labelled Bruno Fernandes a ‘diva’ who shouldn’t have been named as Manchester United captain.

The Portuguese sensation, who has made 237 appearances and contributed 79 goals and 67 assists, is the driving force behind Erik ten Hag’s team.

Although his performance is undeniable, Petit has become irritated with his off the ball antics.

The 1998 World Cup winner with France, who was a star player for Chelsea, Barcelona, and Arsenal, talked about United and the quality of players in Ten Hag’s squad.

At that point, he was frank in his evaluation of Fernandes and the reasons he isn’t the ideal leader for the Red Devils.

According to talkSPORT, while speaking on Drive, Petit said: “I think he’s a good player but I think he’s a diva.

“He acts like a diva sometimes, not like a captain – he wears the armband but if I’m honest with you, if I’m a teammate in the dressing room and you see the way he’s behaving sometimes on the pitch with his arms all the time complaining, you don’t want that from your captain.

“You don’t want that from your teammate and you don’t expect that from your leaders.

“I just want to get into the TV and just play in front of him as an opponent to shake him on the pitch.”
