After seriously injuring his opponent’s leg during a Copa Libertadores game on Tuesday, former Real Madrid great Marcelo was left in tears.

Fernando Diniz, the manager of Fluminense and the man who will lead Brazil’s national team until the middle of next year, declared in a news conference that Marcelo didn’t deserve to be sent off. And that it was “an unfortunate event”.
