Exclusive: 2022 WCQ: Super Eagles, Rohr Won’t Let Nigerians Down Against Liberia -Aikhomogbe

Former Nigerian goalkeeper, Andrew Aikhomogbe says has backed the Super Eagles players and Gernot Rohr to put smiles in the faces of Nigerians as the team face Liberia in today’s 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

The German tactician will be hoping kick-start the series on a winning note before they travelling to Cape Verde four days later.

Nigeria have played the Lone Stars 14 times in the past across all competitions, winning nine times.

The last time the Super Eagles lost to Liberia was in July 2000 during a World Cup qualifying campaign, with Christopher Wreh scoring twice.

However, in an interview with Completesports.com, Aikhomogbe from his base in Cairo, Egypt, stated that the team is prepared to run rout against the Lone Stars at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.

“I’ve always been proud of the Super Eagles because they have never disappointed me. The game against Liberia may be tough but the Super Eagles will come out victorious at the end.

“I can beat my chest and tell you that the team will make Nigerians proud after the final whistle from the centre referee. This is Lagos and not Monrovia. Super Eagles all the way.”
