Exclusive: Judge Rohr By His 2022 AFCON Performance Before Sacking Him -Nwosu Tells NFF

Former Nigerian midfielder, Henry Nwosu has called on the Nigerian Football Federation to await the outcome of the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations before deciding the fate of Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr.

The German tactician has come under heavy criticisms after nervy performance against Cape Verde, where Nigeria managed a 1-1 draw to qualify for the knockout stages of the qualifiers.

However, with just few weeks to the opening fixture of the bi-annual competition, the 1980 AFCON winner told Completesports.com that it would be a wrong timing for the NFF to sack Rohr.

“To be candid with you, I will tell you that sacking Rohr now may create more fuss in the Super Eagles than what we are seeing at the moment. The NFF must have to be careful in the handling of this issue so that it won’t have direct effect on the performance of the players at the tournament in Cameroon.

“If they (NFF) must have to nail him, then they should wait for the outcome of the Super Eagles performance at the Africa Cup of Nations. The fact that he struggled to qualify the team for the final knockout stages of the qualifier doesn’t make him a bad coach.”
