Right-back Fabinho has emerged as a priority for Manchester United in the closing stages of the transfer window.
United manager Jose Mourinho is eager to conclude a move for Fabinho, who has been heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford for several months.
As reported by Get Football News France, Monaco are demanding €25 million plus bonuses for the Brazilian, but United are still hopeful of completing a deal.
The report also adds that the Brazilian is an ‘absolute priority’ for Mourinho and that the player is ‘hell bent’ on a move to the Premier League.
Mourinho has fielded Antonio Valencia at right-back so far this season, with the Ecuador international impressing both defensively and in an attacking sense. However, United are looking to add to their depth in that position.
A fine distributor of the ball, Fabinho, who worked under Mourinho at Real Madrid, has an average pass accuracy of 90% in Ligue 1 this season and, at the age of 22, has time on his side to develop further.
Matteo Darmian has been linked with a move away from United and the Italian may well be allowed to depart if a move for Fabinho comes to fruition.
Mourinho’s side have made an impressive start to the campaign, with the win over Leicester City in the Community Shield being followed by victories over Bournemouth and Southampton in the Premier League.
