Glasgow Warriors’ Zander Fagerson is confident his team can learn their lessons from last season as they aim to go far in the Champions Cup. The Warriors reached the final eight of the competition last season before eventually losing to Saracens. The English champions cruised to a 56-27 victory as the Scottish outfit failed to stop them on their march towards being crowned European champions. Fagerson and co have been placed in Pool 2 this season, and they will face Exeter Chiefs, La Rochelle and Sale Sharks in the group stages. Sale are up first this weekend, and Fagerson believes both he and his team can improve on their showing in last season’s tournament. He told reporters: “I don’t think anyone comes into this competition not looking to go as far as they can. “Last year we did well, came up short in the quarter-finals and got beat by the very team who went on to win it. “It’s a great competition, I’m really chuffed to be a part of it and can’t wait to hopefully play this weekend. “I’ve been told what I need to work on. I’m doing all I can to put myself in the best possible position play as much as I can.”
