Farke retains survival hope

Norwich boss Daniel Farke is convinced his side can pull clear of danger and is relishing the return of some of his injured stars. The Canaries made a fairly bright start after promotion, securing six points from their first five games, but they have managed just one further point since.
Norwich sit rock bottom of the Premier League table after Friday’s 2-0 loss to fellow strugglers Watford, their ninth defeat of the season, and they are four points adrift of safety.
Farke’s side have some key players on the sidelines but defensive duo Grant Hanley and Christoph Zimmermann are closing in on returns to action.
The German manager believes Norwich will be able to compete with any team in the division when they have some of the stars available again. “It looks like we’ve got some defenders back soon,” he told The Pink Un. “If we get this balance, between the physicality and the fluid football, then we can hurt each and every team on this level.”
Farke accepts his side are low on confidence after a seven-game winless run, with six defeats during that time, but he believes if they can improve at the back, it will provide the whole team with a morale boost.
He added: “When you have a testing period, it is not easy with the confidence level but if we can play more solidly, then we are capable of getting results.”
Zimmermann was a crucial member of the Norwich side that secure promotion last season but has only featured once in the Premier League – the 2-0 defeat at West Ham.
Hanley played in the first three games of the season but has been absent since, while Timm Klose is expected to miss the rest of the season.
