Favre downplays Sancho fears

Borussia Dortmund boss Lucien Favre has allayed fears Jadon Sancho suffered a fresh injury in his side’s 4-0 thrashing at the hands of rivals Bayern Munich. The England international had been an injury doubt leading into Der Klassiker after he was forced off in the dying moments of Dortmund’s stunning 3-2 comeback against Inter Milan in the Champions League.
Sancho was given the green light to start on Saturday in the encounter against Bayern but was given the hook after just 36 minutes and replaced by Portugal international Raphael Guerreiro.
Despite concerns Sancho had reaggravated his recent hamstring injury, Favre has dismissed those concerns and simply stated he did not feel the winger was playing well enough. “He was injured for two days, couldn’t train. He trained yesterday, and I think you could see that he was just not good enough. He wasn’t injured,” Favre said.
Sancho has been named in Gareth Southgate’s most recent 27-man squad for their upcoming internationals against Montenegro on November 14 and a trip to Kosovo three days later.
The BVB star should be fit and ready for Three Lions duty as he looks to get back to the form he enjoyed before his recent hamstring troubles.
Saturday’s defeat for Dortmund has left them down in sixth place in the Bundesliga table with six points between themselves and Borussia Monchengladbach.
BVB have a great chance of bouncing back after the international break when they welcome bottom-of-the-table Paderborn to the Westfalenstadion on November 22.
