Joshua Kimmich’s club Bayern Munich is prepared to negotiate a sale before the upcoming campaign, so FC Barcelona can recruit him this summer, as reported by SPORT, which cited unnamed sources.
After club great Sergio Busquets left Catalonia last summer, Kimmich was one of Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi’s and Barca head coach Xavi Hernandez’s top objectives.
There was a huge void in the Blaugrana’s defensive midfield after Busquets left to finally play with Lionel Messi at Inter Miami, but Xavi was forced to settle with Oriol Romeu due to financial constraints.

Romeu, a 2023–2024 La Masia graduate fresh off an outstanding season with Barca’s Catalan neighbors Girona, made an early impression in 2023–2024 but soon had his confidence eroded due to costly mistakes and knee niggles that halted his growth.
Xavi will also use Ilkay Gundogan or Frenkie de Jong in the more withdrawn center-of-the-park position, even if it doesn’t bring out the best in them. He now warms the bench while Andreas Christensen, a central defender, takes his place.
Christensen’s presence is certainly not a long-term fix, therefore at some time Barcelona will need to search the market for Busquets’ replacement.
Regarding Kimmich, SPORT reports that Bayern is prepared to negotiate his sale in the upcoming months, which bodes well for his future.
