Fear Grips As Premier League Manager Might Not Be In Charge Of Season Opener

Due to escalating friction between Julen Lopetegui and Wolverhampton Wanderers’ hierarchy, the club’s players are unsure if the manager will be in charge of their Premier League opener against Manchester United.

As things stood on Tuesday morning, Lopetegui was slated to train at the club’s Compton facility later in the day after the team took a little break.

The Spaniard, who guided Wolves to safety last season in spite of taking over when they were at the bottom of the standings in November.

He has raised questions about his long-term prospects by complaining about Wolves’ inaction in the transfer market at the end of the previous season and during the off-season.

According to Daily Mail, in the event that Lopetegui’s tenure at Molineux comes to an end, former Bournemouth manager Gary O’Neil is one of the candidates to succeed him.

O’Neil left the Cherries in June. Despite the fact that he had replaced Scott Parker early in the previous season. And had guided the promoted team to a comfortable position of safety.

Although O’Neil was replaced by Spanish gaffer Andoni Iraola, many Premier League clubs still thought highly of him.

Last week, Wolves chairman Jeff Shi published an open statement on the club website outlining the necessity for the club to adhere to Financial Fair Play regulations.

Shi wrote: ‘As the owners and management of the club, one important thing we must learn and follow is the Premier League’s rules on profit and sustainability (formerly called financial fair play or abbreviated to FFP).

‘Before the end of 2023/24 season there will be an annual test and we are going to make sure we pass it, as we have done in the last five seasons.’
