Federer cruises into Basel final

Roger Federer remains on course to win a 10th Swiss Indoors title after brushing aside Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semi-finals on Saturday. The 20-time Grand Slam champion needed just an hour and 20 minutes to see off his Greek opponent as he claimed a 6-4 6-4 victory in front of his home supporters in Basel. Federer’s numbers in the event continue to amaze as he has now reached the final of the competition for the 13th successive year, and 15th in total, while he has also won his past 23 matches on centre court at St. Jakobshalle. The 38-year-old is also through to his sixth ATP Tour final of the year – a record only bettered by Daniil Medvedev (9). He will be facing a new opponent in the final as he has never before taken on Australia’s Alex de Minaur. De Minaur booked his place in the final with a hard-fought 6-7 7-6 6-7 victory over American Reilly Opelka earlier on Saturday and will now be looking to win his fourth ATP title of the year, following on from his victories at the Sydney International, the Atlanta Open and the Zhuhai Championships.
