Marouane Fellaini says Jose Mourinho has already spoken to him about his Manchester United future.
The Belgian midfielder’s future is uncertain following the arrival of the new manager, with stars like Paul Pogba being targeted this summer.
But Fellaini says he is relaxed about the affair, report the Manchester Evening News.
Fellaini – currently at Euro 2016 with Belgium – is determined to fight for his place under the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss.
And he says he has already been in touch with Mourinho.
“Mourinho contacted me by text to say welcome to United and to wish me a good Euro,” said the midfielder. “As far as my future is concerned, I’m under contract with Manchester United.
“In addition, a great manager, Jose Mourinho, is arriving.
“He likes to win titles and I would be honoured and proud to work with him.
“Now it’s up to me to show he can trust me.”
Fellaini has struggled to win over United supporters since his £27.5m move from Everton on transfer deadline day in 2013.
Despite some effective performances under Louis van Gaal, it is not clear how he will fit into Mourinho’s plans.
United are hoping to sign Pogba in £70m-plus deal, while Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic has also been linked.
