Rio Ferdinand hailed Pedro for turning things around at Chelsea after a difficult debut campaign in the Premier League.
Pedro signed for the Blues in the summer of 2015 just after Jose Mourinho had led them to their fourth Premier League title, though it all went wrong immediately.
Mourinho was fired before Christmas with Chelsea in the bottom half of the league table and they ended up finishing 10th by the end of the season and Pedro scored just seven league goals, with three coming after April.
However, he’s shining for the Blues under Antonio Conte and already has eight goals in all competitions this term, leading Ferdinand to believe that he’s turned the corner this term.
“People were hammering Pedro at the start of the season and now he’s one of Antonio Conte’s most important players and he has turned it round on the pitch, not by talking,” Ferdinand said in his column for The Sunday Times.
“Pedro’s a winner. He was integral to Barcelona’s great team; the first person to trigger their press in forward areas. He was a nightmare to play against.”
The Spanish forward shot to fame after starring for Barcelona during their most successful era under Pep Guardiola’s management.
He won the Champions League in 2011, scoring in the final at Wembley against Manchester United, and won five La Liga titles between 2009 and 2015.
