Jack Grealish has received high praise from Rio Ferdinand for ‘doing everything’ Pep Guardiola has asked of him at Manchester City.
In Saturday’s 3-1 victory over Leicester, Grealish put in another solid performance. He continuously posed a threat down the left, before being substituted early and given a rest with the victory already in hand.
The 27-year-old recorded two goals and two assists in the three games before last weekend.
Grealish is in the best form of his City career. And has become Guardiola’s first choice on the left side of the field since his return from the World Cup.
And Ferdinand thinks the former Aston Villa player is now complying with all of his manager’s requests.
“With Jack, he hasn’t scored the goals that some other wide players have scored and he hasn’t had the assists,” Ferdinand told Vibe with FIVE. “But his impact on the team and his importance on this Man City team can’t go unnoticed.
“He takes the ball under pressure, relieves pressure for his team, his positioning, his defensive work is outrageous – like we saw against Liverpool – and he’s impacting big games and big moments.
“He’s putting the ball on a plate for players like Haaland to score the goals. He’s doing everything that I’m sure Pep wanted him to do.”

Five important players were taken off from the field early on Saturday. This included Grealish, as Guardiola appeared to have his eyes on the Champions League quarterfinal second leg at Bayern Munich on Wednesday.
Erling Haaland and John Stones, who both scored goals, were replaced at halftime. While Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri were given an early break.
