Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand says Real Madrid‘s midfield of Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and Isco is the best he has seen since Barcelona‘s trio of Sergio Busquets, Xavi and Andres Iniesta.
The Real Madrid midfielders were excellent in both legs of their Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid as Zinedine Zidane’s team, the reigning champions, made it through to the final.
Speaking on BT Sport, Ferdinand said: “I’ve not seen anything like this since Xavi, Busquets Iniesta. They couldn’t get near them.”
A magnificent distributor of the ball, Kroos was successful with 96% of his attempted passes against Atletico tonight, while he completed 100 per cent of his attempted take-ons.
Modric, meanwhile, completed 93% of the passes that he attempted and also made six defensive actions.
Isco found the net as Real lost 2-1 to Atletico on the night (they won 4-2 on aggregate).
The Spaniard created three chances and also kept the ball well, completing 87% of his attempted passes.
Real are now through to the final, where they will face Juventus.
