New Zealand bowler Lockie Ferguson says he can unsettle the England attack if he makes his Test debut this winter. The Black Caps are set to host England in a two-match Test series, but the 28-year-old is still unsure if he will get the nod. Ferguson – the second-highest wicket-taker at the Cricket World Cup this summer – has been included in the 15-man squad, but he faces fierce competition from Trent Boult, Tim Southee and Neil Wagner. He has played 36 one-day internationals and eight T20Is for his country but also has an excellent record domestically in red-ball cricket. To date, he has 153 wickets in 42 matches for Auckland and Derbyshire and believes England’s attack will be worried if he gets a chance. Ferguson told reporters: “Part of my role in the team is to bring a little bit of anxiety, potentially, from bowling extra speed. “I think that’s probably the most exciting part about Test cricket – there’s no limited-overs, so you know you’re probably going to face them at some point in time. “I’m pretty excited to be part of the Test squad – it’s a goal I’ve been working to for a long time as I really enjoy red-ball cricket. It’s going to be a tough team to break into, but there’s a lot of Test cricket coming up.”
