Filip Jorgensen Joins Chelsea For £20.7 Million And Has Already Demonstrated Skills In Training

Filip Jorgensen will join Chelsea as the club’s eighth signing under Enzo Maresca.

TalkSPORT reported last week that the Blues have reached a £20.7 million agreement with Villarreal for the goalkeeper.

As a result, the 22-year-old had his medical in America, and the west Londoners are currently on a pre-season tour there.

And now his move to Chelsea has been formally revealed, with the kid signing a six-year contract with the option of an additional year.

Jorgensen stated, “This move is a dream come true.” I’m overjoyed to have signed with Chelsea, one of the world’s most prestigious clubs. I can’t wait to get to know everyone and start playing with my new teammates.”

New manager Enzo Maresca has expressed a desire to bring in a new shot-stopper this summer to compete with Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic.

Jorgensen, known for his passing talents, was seen as an ideal fit for Maresca’s style of play, which requires goalkeepers to be comfortable with the ball.

As soon as he arrived at Chelsea training, the 22-year-old demonstrated his inventive distributing skills.

Ben Jacobs, a talkSPORT correspondent, shared a video of Jorgensen in training soon after signing.

He is Chelsea’s sixth goalkeeper signing since 2018, and the fourth since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took over two years ago.

Jorgensen is Chelsea’s eighth signing this summer, as Maresca seeks to construct a squad capable of qualifying for the Champions League.

Tosin Adarabioyo was the club’s first signing, arriving on a free transfer, before Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall joined Maresca from Leicester in a £30 million deal.
