Finishing Top 4 This Season Will Be a “Huge Success” – Pep Guardiola

A “huge success” would be Manchester City’s Champions League qualification this season, according to manager Pep Guardiola.

After winning the Premier League four times in a row, City is now in the unusual situation of only trying to finish in the top four this season.

Ahead of Saturday’s matchup with Brighton, who are only one point below them and among numerous teams vying for spots in Europe, City has dropped to fifth position.

“Brighton are one of the best clubs working on and off the pitch,” Guardiola said at a press conference.

After losing to Nottingham Forest last weekend, City lost the opportunity to return to third place in the standings.

After the game, Pep Guardiola called his team’s remaining games “10 finals” because it was their ninth loss of the league season.

City would normally have anticipated playing in the Champions League this week, but they were forced to watch from home due to their early play-off exit.

Although City had a full week to get ready for Brighton because to the lack of European play, Guardiola is not fully persuaded that this was a good thing, reports RTE.

“We tried it against Nottingham, but it didn’t work,” he remarked.
