Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski believes Hansi Flick should continue as head coach of the side until at least the end of the season. The Bundesliga champions are in the hunt for the next man to fill the void left by Niko Kovac after his sacking earlier this month.
Massimiliano Allegri and Arsene Wenger have been linked with moves to the Allianz Arena but interim boss Flick has impressed in his relatively short time in the position.
Bayern secured a 2-0 win over Olympiacos in the Champions League before a 4-0 thrashing of rivals Borussia Dortmund on home soil.
There have been murmurs former Bayern midfielder Flick could be handed the role for the remainder of the campaign and star striker Lewandowski says he would have no objection to the proposal.
He told TVN 24: “I think that Hansi Flick is the right man; he has a chance to be our coach, at least until the end of the season.
Lewandowski added: “We have a good relationship with him. His tactical and footballing knowledge are at a high level. In a short time, he showed us what we could work on to play better and win.”
Having enjoyed a fantastic run of form for the Bavarian giants, there are suggestions could be a real contender to win the 2019 Ballon d’Or.
Lewandowski says he is enjoying his football and feels it’s not just his finishing that he has improved on. “It’s true, I’m in the best form of my career,” he said. “Age is only a number. I’m happy that I’m in good physical condition. I feel good also doing things other than scoring; I also support my teammates in the build-up.”
