Since taking over for Jurgen Klopp at Anfield last summer, the Dutchman has performed admirably, leading the Reds to the verge of winning the Premier League again.
Many followers, however, are perplexed by his true identity and have taken to social media to share their surprise at learning it.
A user said, “I just Googled this.” I don’t think I’ll get better.
“I need to sit down,” said a second user.
Another remark said, “I discovered this information when I was today years old.”
His full name is Arend Martijn Slot, and his father gave him the Dutch word for eagle, Arend, reports Daily Mail.
It comes after Slot denied rumors that the Premier League had gotten weaker during his first season in England, with teams like Tottenham, Manchester United, and City not performing up to the fans’ expectations.
Slot said: ‘Arsenal don’t have to win the Champions League because we are all sure that the Premier League is by far the best league and the most difficult league in the world.
I don’t think anyone can debate that’.
