Bayern Munich have reportedly announced that Guo Jiaxuan, a former player, died at the age of just 18 after a tragic event during a training match.
The teenage defender was a member of the club’s World Squad, a global initiative designed to foster player development worldwide.
According to the Daily Express, the 18-year-old passed away after he was hit in the head by an opponent’s knee during a match in Spain last month.
Guo experienced subarachnoid hemorrhage, a rare kind of stroke brought on by bleeding on the brain’s surface. After the player went into coma, his family was told that he had lost all brain function while receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
