Claudio Ranieri, a former manager of Chelsea, has decided to come out of retirement and take a third stint at Roma.

Almost 40 years after his first managerial position, the 73-year-old, who coached Chelsea from 2000 to 2004, led Cagliari to safety in May and had declared the job to be his last.
However, Roma of Serie A announced Ranieri as the team’s new head coach on Wednesday. The Italian took over for Ivan Juric.
Ranieri, who had a brief time five years ago and a two-year term at Roma in 2009, will lead the Serie A team till the end of this season.
After that, the former Roma player will take a top management position and serve as the ownership group’s counselor, reports Football London.
“AS Roma is pleased to announce that Claudio Ranieri is the new Head Coach of the First Team,” a club statement read.
“At the conclusion of the season, Claudio will transition into a senior executive role, where he will be an adviser to the ownership on all sporting matters at the club.
“The search for a future coach will proceed over the next months. Claudio will have input in that decision as well.”
