Former Liverpool defender, Joel Matip is reportedly nearing a return back to the Premier League just months after leaving Anfield as a free agent.
Matip left Liverpool as a free agent on June 30, ending his illustrious eight years with the team. The 33-year-old was an important member of the team under Jurgen Klopp. But the Reds decided against giving the player a contract extension in spite of pressure from their previous manager.
Over the summer, Matip courted interest from Bayer Leverkusen, the champions of the Bundesliga. The Cameroonian has yet to sign with a new team, though, considering the new season has already begun for a month.
Outside of the transfer window, free agents may be signed and registered. And according to The Mirror as reported by TEAMtalk, West Ham United, Fulham and Bournemouth are considering a move for Matip, who is expected to return to the Premier League.
The report claimed that Matip is “favoring a return” to the Premier League and is examining offers from top flight English teams.
The willingness of a club to grant Matip a two-year contract is a crucial consideration that could determine who he signs for.

Matip and his camp are reportedly hoping for a two-year contract that would last until the summer of 2026.
Clubs might be hesitant to commit to a two-year deal for Matip because he is 33 years old and recently had ACL surgery.
