There is disagreement among two former Manchester United teammates regarding Andre Onana’s future status as the team’s starting goalkeeper.
Ben Foster and Edwin van der Sar are both aware of the demands of playing goal at Old Trafford. Since joining United from Inter Milan in July 2023 for an initial sum of £43.8 million, Onana’s goalkeeping performance has caused division.

Van der Sar recently endorsed the 28-year-old and implied that his skills would advance with time. “I think that it’s quite early but Andre (Onana) has a fantastic career in front of him.”
His experience is growing.
“He has all the qualities that a goalkeeper needs so I’m sure for the next five to six years he will keep improving. He has the right attitude to be the goalkeeper for Man United for a very long time.”
Foster, who spent five years as a United player from July 2005 to May 2010, has questioned Onana’s long-term qualifications, reports Manchester Evening.
On his Fozcast podcast, the former Wrexham player discussed the current level of goalkeepers in the Premier League, saying:
“If you look at the best goalkeepers, like Allison, Edison, Martinez, and Raya, they are setting the standard for how to be a proper excellent goalkeeper, but there is a drop-off.
