France legend, Vincent Candela has become the latest figure to criticize Kylian Mbappe over his performance since moving to Real Madrid.
In 1998, Candela won the World Cup with France, but he has stated that he is hesitant to compare Mbappe to Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to Madrid Universal, the 51-year-old believes that Mbappe still has a long way to go before he can match the Portuguese superstar. He emphasized that in order for the French forward to progress and better fit into Spanish football, he needs to make some improvements.
“He needs to work more in Spain. He can still grow and become a stronger footballer,” he said as quoted by SPORT.
Mbappe’s reputation has drastically changed since leaving Paris Saint-Germain, which is one of Candela’s main findings.
The 25-year-old was seen as an icon at PSG, the team’s face, and someone who frequently carried the team on his shoulders. But he is just one of several talented players at Real Madrid.
“At Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe is one among many, while at PSG he was an icon.

“Hopefully Mbappe can follow Cristiano Ronaldo’s path at Real Madrid. But it is too early to compare them. First of all, he must win the Champions League, as the Portuguese did many times,” he noted.
Mbappe’s recent performance has also drawn criticism. He has scored eight goals in 16 games, which is a good start, but he hasn’t found the back of the net in his previous four games with Los Blancos.
