Foxes to offer Maddison new deal – report

Leicester City are reportedly considering a new deal for midfielder James Maddison as rumours grown that Manchester United are keen to sign him. The 22-year-old’s displays for the Foxes have seen his status elevated to one of the most sought after English players in the game, with Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a known admirer.
The Coventry-born ace has been linked with United in the past but is currently building his reputation with the East Midlanders as Brendan Rodgers’ men sit third in the top-flight standings after a stellar start to the campaign.
It is also thought that Liverpool and Tottenham are keen on the talented schemer and, with that in mind, King Power officials may be set to offer Maddison improved terms.
That would increase his value for any potential sale and it may be that there is a bidding war for the England hopeful next summer.
Solskjaer has made it obvious he is looking to recruit young players to rebuild the United squad, with Harry Maguire, Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka brought in during the off-season, and Maddison seems to fit the bill perfectly.
However, it is open to debate as to whether he would he want to leave a Leicester side that are comfortably in the top four and clearly moving in the right direction under Rodgers.
The former Norwich City man is said to be happy at Leicester and is guaranteed a starting berth – something that may not always be the case at a so-called bigger club.
He has England ambitions and would surely have made his debut but for illness ending his involvement with the Three Lions during the recent international break.
It remains to be seen is he does pen new terms with his present employers but multiple reports claim he will be offered a fresh deal sooner rather than later.
