FPL Gameweek 3 Recap: A Low Scoring Gameweek, Or Not?

What a week! We’re three Gameweeks into the new FPL season and we’re still awaiting a start for Gabriel Magalhaes (£4.9m).

And less than a week after he was seemingly off penalties,Bukayo Saka (£8.7m) was back on them.

Martin Odegaard (£8.5m) had stepped up from 12 yards in the Gameweek 2 victory over Crystal Palace but there was still some doubt as to whether he’d be permanently on penalty-taking duty after Mikel Arteta said he had “no clue” that was going to happen.

Elsewhere, Man City dominated most of the game at Bramall Lane, with Erling Haaland’s (£14.0m) second-half goal putting them ahead after his missed penalty before the break.

As for Julian Alvarez (£6.6m), he started for the third successive Gameweek, took most set-pieces and went close a number of times, racking up eight shots in total.

He also created four chances and would have earned the assist if Haaland had converted his penalty.

Raheem Sterling’s (£7.0m) brace and a goal from Nicolas Jackson (£7.1m) handed Chelsea their first win under Mauricio Pochettino, as they defeated Luton Town 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Raheem Sterling was the star of the show in Friday’s Gameweek 3 opener, as he scored twice and provided a Fantasy assist, earning 19 points, the biggest individual haul of the 2023/24 season so far.

Matty Cash (£4.5m) scored two goals at Turf Moor, which coincided with him playing out-of-position on the right wing instead of Leon Bailey (£5.5m).

He had six shots, a match-leading total, in a performance that was probably his best under Unai Emery so far.

The Gameweek 4 deadline is on Friday, September 1st @ 6:30pm WAT.

The GW3 Winners

Gameweek 2 was a funny one. Player number 13 on the standings (in GW2) ended up getting paid because one of the winners didn’t show up (nor sent in a comment of their team name) and players between 6th to 12th never sent registered their team names on the website as well. Hilarious!

Note that it is important this season to send in team names as comments for CONFIRMATION. The admins will reach out only to winners that have done this!
