FPL Gameweek 3 Recap: Time To Bring In Manchester United Assets?

In the last (and biggest) match of Gameweek 3, Manchester United put on a fantastic performance against all odds, defeating Liverpool 2-1 at Old Trafford.

With the fans protesting in the background, Erik ten Hag’s team exploded against Liverpool, with Anthony Elanga (£4.9m) hitting the post before Jadon Sancho (£7.3m) hit the back of the net.

In the 2nd half, a reignited Marcus Rashford (£6.3m) added a second. Mohammad Salah (£13.0m) scored a late header sending the game to a frantic finish.

Casemiro was presented to the fans before kick-off, with Ten Hag saying “He is the cement between the stones, that’s what we were looking for this summer and we found him.”

With a lackluster performance in Gameweek 3, Liverpool’s season-long struggle continues. They were unable to handle the intensity of the hosts.

Jurgen Klopp’s team just have two points from their first three games as a result, and their deteriorating injury situation has made them exposed at the back.

Elsewhere, Newcastle United and Manchester City drew 3-3 at St James’ Park on Sunday, with Erling Haaland (£11.7m) and Bernardo Silva (£6.8m) clawing the visitors back from a 3-1 deficit.

The Norwegian international wasn’t very active in the first half, but after the interval he came to life, scoring and hitting the post from three great opportunities.

But after the game, Pep Guardiola mentioned rotating his team once City started playing twice a week, specifically mentioning Haaland.
