In Double Gameweek 34, three of the six top-scoring players in the 2022–23 Fantasy Premier League are expected to battle for the captaincy.
All three players – Mohamed Salah (£13.0m), Erling Haaland (£12.3m), and Marcus Rashford (£7.1m)—play twice. Haaland is, however, predicted to be the most-selected captain option given his enormous 81% ownership.
The attractiveness of Haaland is heightened by his current form.
He is the second highest-scoring player in Fantasy over his last four games, with 44 points earned off six goals and two assists.
Salah and Rashford each have half as many goal involvements as he does, and the Man City star is the only one of the trio to not go blank during that stretch.
Meanwhile, in addition to contributing to eight goals and accruing 49 points, Kevin De Bruyne also showed his potential as an alternate option for Man City’s games against Fulham and West Ham United.

Since the season resumed, however, Rashford has proven more than a match for Haaland.
They are the best performing players in Fantasy from Gameweek 17 onwards, producing 124 and 118 points respectively.

Notably, despite a number of midfielders turning in good performances, Haaland is the only forward among the top-scoring Double Gameweek 34 players during this time.
With 107 points, Salah is third among Double Gameweek players. However, Solly March of Brighton & Hove Albion (£5.3m), who averages 6.3 points per start, outperforms him.
Meanwhile, Jack Grealish’s (£7.3m) consistency of starts has allowed him to match De Bruyne’s four goals and eight assists.
