FPL GW14 Recap: First Of Many Matches In Festive Period; iSoccer Winners

One of the seven league matches in the festive season is done and dusted, while some managers are happy with their selection, others are biting their fingers in regret. The GW14 of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is quite a memorable and interesting one for managers to contemplate on.

Arsenal were among one of the 6 teams to face off in the 4.pm kickoff as there was no lunch time match in this GW.

The Gunners race through a 2-goal lead before the 20-minutes, Bukayo Saka (£8.8m) and Martin Odegaard (£8.3m) put the league leaders in front after benefitting from Takehiro Tomiyasu (£4.5m) and Oleksandr Zinchenko (£5.1m) assists.

Wolves scored in their 13th straight league game, thanks to a late Matheus Cunha (£5.5m) goal, . Shattering the clean sheets of the millions of FPL managers who own Arsenal defenders.

After becoming the most transferred-in player ahead of GW14 deadline, Bryan Mbeumo (£7.1m) could only provide an assist to reward his owners as he whipped in a corner for Ben Mee (£4.8m) to head home.

The Saturday fixtures were wrapped up with Manchester United’s visit to St. James’ Park. Coming back from a draw against Galatasaray in the UCL, The Red Devils aimed to get the maximum points against Newcastle United. But Kieran Trippier (£7.0m) teed up with Anthony Gordon (£5.9m) to pile more misery to Erik ten Hag’s side.

Having dropped points in their last two league games, Manchester City look to go back to winning ways against Tottenham Hotspur. But unfortunately, the win-less streak continues.

Erling Haaland (£14.0m) missed a few good opportunities to score in the attacking third, despite displaying some strong link-up play and dishing out two assists.

Jeremy Doku (£6.8m), Julian Alvarez (£7.0m), and Rodri (£5.6m) all hit the woodwork. While Phil Foden (£7.5m) and Jack Grealish, the substitute, were on the scoresheet.

Son Heung-min (£9.6m) scored a goal, an own goal, and provided an assist on Sunday to give his first return since GW10. However, Dejan Kulusevski (£7.0m) was arguably the standout performer at the Etihad.

Jarrod Bowen (£7.6m) returned for West Ham Sunday matchup against Crystal Palace. Mohammed Kudus (£6.6m) converted a cross from Vladimir Coufal (£4.6m) in the first half. With the exception of Trippier, the Czech has more assists this season—five—than any other FPL defender.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.9m) was back at it on Sunday, recording a goal, an assist, and 13 FPL points, one week after he scored against Man City.

Mohamed Salah (£13.0m) has returned in 12 of his 14 starts this season following his assist to Wataru Endo’s (£5.4m) equalizer.

Yesterday there was good news for Ollie Watkins(£8.4m) owners as he started against Bournemouth. He scored and provided an assist for Leon Bailey (£5.5m) to return 11 points.

Please Note: Winners will be contacted directly by the iSoccer FPL admins ONLY if they have dropped a comment or their team names at any point during the season. Winners who haven’t fulfilled any of the above requirements would have their win passed down to a next eligible manager (who has sent in comments).

This will be done on the next Gameweek’s Deadline Day (provided winners didn’t comment still). And once payments are made to another manager, it becomes irreversible.

No manager is entitled to win in two consecutive GWs. So, any reward of such would be passed down to the next manager in line. This is necessary to make winnings go round.

Net points for the week will be used in picking winners, rather than gross points.

Also Note: Each player is entitled to only ONE team. Therefore, payments will be denied from players with more than one team, and passed to next manager.

All players are also advised to follow the social media handles and to visit the iSoccer website frequently.
