FPL GW18 Recap: Interesting Gameweek Ahead Christmas; iSoccer Winners

FPL GW18 Recap: Interesting Gameweek Ahead Christmas; iSoccer Winners

Following the anxiety that came with gameweek 17, Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers were aware of their fate three days after the end of the gameweek.

Speaking further about the GW17, the iSoccer winners would be wondering if they are going to get their cash prizes after the wobbles of the gameweek. Worry not, as you will get your prizes because you have earned it.

Without further ado, the GW18 comes with its surprise just like other GWs before it, and guess who was the player of the week? Dominic Solanke (£6.9m). The Bournemouth forward plundered a hat-trick in the Cherries’ entertaining 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

The three strikes ensured he gave his new and existing owners 17 points. This is after his potential 9 points in the previous gameweek were erased following the cancellation of Bournemouth’s clash against Luton Town after the Hatters captain, Tom Lockyer (£4.3m) collapsed on the pitch after an hour of football had been played.

The gameweek was characterized with different captain choices, this is due mostly to the unavailability of Erling Haaland (£13.9m) due to Manchester City’s FIFA Club World Cup campaign.

Even at that, it doesn’t look certain the Norwegian talisman will be able to feature in their now reschedule fixture against Brentford as he is reportedly still nursing an injury he sustained few weeks ago.

Mohamed Salah (£13.3m), Heung-min Son (£9.8m), Ollie Watkins( £8.8m), and Bukayo Saka (£9.0m) were the major captain choices for this week. While the former two were able to give their backers something to smile about, the latter two did nothing but to bring anguish to those who gave them the armband.

Following his absence in the two previous gameweeks, Alphonso Areola (£4.2m) started in goal for West Ham United against Manchester United at the London stadium.

He was one of just two goalkeepers to keep a clean sheet this week, with Luton’s Thomas Kaminski (£4.5m) being the other shot-stopper to do the same after his side recorded a 1-0 home victory against Newcastle United.

With the overall average point pegged at 36, this gameweek can be seen as somewhat of an interesting one as majority of the managers don’t seem to fare well, maybe the festive period is already getting down our spine hence our FPL decisions are affected by it.

Talking about the festive season, we at the International Soccer want to use this medium to wish you a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in advance. We have come this far with you, and we hope to continue serving you with interesting sporting stories across the globe.

Please Note: Winners will be contacted directly by the iSoccer FPL admins ONLY if they have dropped a comment or their team names at any point during the season. Winners who haven’t fulfilled any of the above requirements would have their win passed down to a next eligible manager (who has sent in comments).

This will be done on the next Gameweek’s Deadline Day (provided winners didn’t comment still). And once payments are made to another manager, it becomes irreversible.

No manager is entitled to win in two consecutive GWs. So, any reward of such would be passed down to the next manager in line. This is necessary to make winnings go round.

Net points for the week will be used in picking winners, rather than gross points.

Also Note: Each player is entitled to only ONE team. Therefore, payments will be denied from players with more than one team, and passed to next manager.

All players are also advised to follow the social media handles and to visit the iSoccer website frequently.
