FPL GW30 Recap: The Run-In Officially Begins; iSoccer Winners

As the Premier League run-in is now upon us, so is the Fantasy Premier League (FPL). This is the time of the season where managers will start making some decisions in the hope to improve their current rankings as well as staying ahead of their mini-league rivals.

Following a 15-day break, the FPL is finally back and Gameweek 30 proved to be one where managers had to clear the cobwebs and tinker a bit with their teams.

Several Nottingham Forest assets have shown to be very valuable following the Tricky Trees impressive performance all season. They showed their resilience once again when they host an under-performing Manchester United side at the City Ground.

Former United youngster, Anthony Elanga (£5.4m) scored the decisive goal to collect 11 points as Nuno Espirito Santo’s side hold firm, their UEFA Champions League ambition.

Winning with a cleansheet means two more Forest assets – Matz Sels (£5.1m) and Murillo (£4.7m) with 8 and 9 points respectively – made it to the team of the week.

Following the news that Erling Haaland (£14.8m) will miss up to seven weeks of action due to injury, majority of the Norwegian owners sold him for his teammate, Omar Marmoush (£7.5m), who didn’t disappoint as he got on the scoresheet and claimed the maximum points to record 9 points off the back of the 12 he plundered in City’s 2-2 draw against Brighton and Hove Albion.

After missing out of action for almost four months, Bukayo Saka (£10.3) returned with a bang as he scored a goal in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Fulham.

Several managers are already jumping to the Englishman’s ship ahead of the Gunners’ relatively easy matches. Mikel Arteta’s side are set to clash with Everton (A), Brentford (H), Ipswich Town (A) and Crystal Palace (H) in the upcoming gameweeks.

Popular captain pick, Mohamed Salah (£13.8m) recorded a blank for the first time since GW22 as Liverpool returned to winning ways against their Merseyside rivals, Everton following an elimination from the Champions League and a defeat in the final of the Carabao Cup.

As Salah ended his impressive points return, Cole Palmer (£10.7m) did the opposite as he put behind, his underwhelming performance.

The 22-year-old ended a 5-game attacking return drought following his assist for Enzo Fernandez (£4.7m), who has now surpassed the 100 points mark. The Argentine has recorded four attacking returns in the last seven matches.
