The Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Gameweek 31 was one where the premium and most popularly owned assets failed to show what differentiates them from the inexpensive and least owned assets.
This is why it is called FANTASY FOOTBALL! The unpredictability of the beautiful game makes it unique and interesting.
The most popular asset in the FPL, Mohamed Salah (£13.8m) yet again, produced a blank in Liverpool’s 3-2 loss to Fulham and subsequently disappointed over five million managers, who handed him the captaincy armband.
The Egyptian has now made it back-to-back games without any attacking return after doing so against Everton in GW30.
Several managers are already growing impatient with him, however, with West Ham United (H) and Leicester City (A) coming up next for the Reds, there is every need for managers to think about either sticking with him or ditching him for another asset.
Newcastle United ace, Jacob Murphy (£5.1m) was one of the stars of this gameweek following his brace in the Magpies’ 3-0 victory over Leicester City at the King Power stadium.
The Englishman, who was brought in by 384,000+ new owners also claimed the maximum points to collect 16 points during a night where another popular asset, Alexander Isak (£9.5m) failed to come to the party and ultimately shocked over 1.2 million managers, who entrusted him with the armband.
After having a hand in each of Tottenham Hotspur’s three goals against Southampton at the St. Mary’s stadium, Brennan Johnson (£6.2m) was the player of the week.
Two goals
An assist
Three projected bonus
It’s a fourth double-digit haul of the season for Brennan Johnson! A special shout out to the 5,118 managers who captained him

The Welshman, who is currently owned by just 2.4 percent of managers scored two goals, provided an assist and claimed all three bonus points to collect 18 points.
Bournemouth forward, Evanilson (£5.8m) plundered a brace to claim 13 points in the Cherries’ 2-2 draw against West Ham United.
Alex Iwobi (£5.5m) was also one of the stars of the week following his goal and an assist in Fulham’s impressive 3-2 win against Liverpool at the Craven Cottage.
