France Legend Reflects On The Reason Behind Anthony Martial’s Lack Of Club Signing

Anthony Martial needs to question himself if he still wants to play football, according to Emmanuel Petit.

Martial was released by Manchester United in June, ending his nine-year tenure as a player for the 20-time English premier league winners.

The 28-year-old striker hasn’t found a new club yet.

Flamengo, a Brazilian team, reportedly approached Anthony about joining, but his pay demands were deemed “unworkable.”

This implies that Martial, who was paid £36 million to join the Red Devils from Monaco in 2015, becoming the most expensive teenager in history, would have a more uncertain future.

The French player has missed 94 games for United due to injuries but he had his fair share of injury problems, reports Talk Sports

However, it is a perplexing fall from grace, particularly considering that after scoring 17 league goals in the 2019–20 season, it seemed like Martial may live up to the high expectations.

Petit expressed sympathy for Martial and blamed the forward’s passing on internal strife at United.

“I can’t remember the last time he was a proper footballer on the pitch, producing good performances,” Petit added.

He has had a great deal of injuries over the past few years. However, given Manchester United’s stability, it’s not surprising that many of its players experience hardships.

“But in reality, he’s becoming lost in transition. Even if he hasn’t been playing well for the last several years, I find it incomprehensible that when his contract is about to expire, this player has no offer.

Petit thinks that if the 30-cap French international really wants to play on, he needs to do some serious meditation to figure things out.
