Following Les Bleus’ thrilling victory over Austria in their Group D opening on Monday night, Mbappe rode in the back of an ambulance to the hospital in Dusseldorf for an evaluation.
However, the horrific injury suffered by the 25-year-old overshadowed the 1-0 triumph. According to Mirror Football close to the French team, there is worry about the kind and extent of the swelling because it may make breathing more difficult.
Mbappe is scheduled to face more testing at France’s base on Tuesday, where he is expected to have his own personal protective mask fitted. Mbappe was booked for approaching the field again and lying down on the turf after receiving assistance.
Then, Mbappe’s condition will be discussed with manager Didier Deschamps by France’s Dr. Franck Le Gall. Together, they will decide whether or not to use Mbappe for training and the Netherlands game in Leipzig.
The Real Madrid forward is prepared to exert every effort to play, but Deschamps and his staff may ultimately decide not to let him. Late Wednesday night, the former Paris Saint-Germain player tweeted, “Any ideas for masks?”
