Franck Kessie Will Not Leave Barcelona This Summer

Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie will reportedly not be leaving the club this summer despite interest from Inter.

The 26-year-old is thought to have turned down offers from a number of clubs, including Premier League clubs, in order to join Barcelona on a free transfer from AC Milan last summer.

Kessie has made 29 appearances for Xavi’s side this season, recording two goals and three assists, but his future remains uncertain.

Tottenham Hotspur were linked with a January move, and there have been speculations that the North London giants could make a bid during the summer transfer window.

According to Sport, the Ivory Coast international will not be leaving at the close of the season, despite having recently taken on a key role.

Due to injuries and suspensions in the Barcelona midfield, Kessie has played on a regular basis in recent weeks, and the club may lose Sergio Busquets on a free transfer this summer.

Frenkie de Jong’s future is also being questioned, with Manchester United believed to be rekindling their interest in the Netherlands international.
As a result, Kessie could be a mainstay in the midfield starting in 2022–23, with Gavi often played further forward.

The Ivorian signed a four-year contract with the Catalan giants upon his arrival, which means he will be at the club until the end of the 2025-26 season.

Barcelona president Joan Laporta stated that Kessie would “continue to be important” after confirming that the midfielder would not be moving in January.

Inter Milan, Chelsea, and Tottenham are all reported to be monitoring his position.

Barcelona recently lost to Manchester United in the Europa League, but they are still competing in the Copa del Rey and La Liga this season.
