Gabriel Jesus: Manchester City are helping me become a better player

Gabriel Jesus believes that Manchester City are “helping” him become a better player every day, following his fantastic start at the Etihad.

Jesus was one of several summer signings made by Pep Guardiola, as he looked to reshape his City squad, but the youngster didn’t arrive in Manchester until last month, staying at former club Palmeiras. However he’s made an immediate impact at the club, adapting to the rigours of the Premier League with apparent ease.

The 19-year-old has played a big role for City in the last few weeks, culminating with an important brace on Sunday as Guardiola’s men beat Swansea City 2-1 at the Etihad in dramatic fashion. Jesus’ injury-time winner keeps the Citizens in the hunt for at least a top four finish, after winning their last two games on the bounce.

Following the game, the Brazilian international revealed that City are playing a significant role in his development as a player, helping him get better every day.

“I am very happy to score two goals,” Jesus told Sky Sports post-match. “I got into the team so quickly. Everyone at the club is helping me to get better every day but of course when things like this happen it is much easier. We played very well all game and of course we deserved to win because we tried to score goals since the first minute.”

Jesus has scored three goals and created four chances in three Premier League appearances this term, with a shot accuracy of 50%, as City sit third on 49 points, 10 behind leaders Chelsea.

Next up for them is an away clash at Bournemouth next Monday, before taking on Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup fifth round at the Kirklees Stadium.
