Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus has admitted his surprise at how well he’s started at Manchester City after scoring three goals in his last two games.
Jesus signed for City last summer for £27 million but spent the first half of the English campaign on loan at his club,
Palmeiras, whom he helped win the Brazilian Serie A title.
The teenage striker arrived in Manchester last month and has started their last two league games, leaving Sergio Aguero on the bench, and he’s repaid Pep Guardiola’s faith with three goals.
Jesus has now admitted that even he is surprised by his superb start to life at Man City.
“I am very happy,” he said to the club’s official website. “Each day I feel that I am adjusting really well, with the support of everyone in the club.
“The players, they help me every day and that makes me happy, even more because I am able to make a good start in a City shirt.”
He added: “Yes, I am very surprised. Although I work a lot every single day, with everyone’s support, in order for that to happen.”
Aguero has scored 11 goals in the top flight this season and is one of the club’s all-time top scorers since arriving in 2011, but his future is now in doubt following the sudden emergence of Gabriel Jesus.
The Brazilian forward has settled in quickly and looks set to carry on leading Guardiola’s attack.
