Alejandro Garnacho made the unorthodox choice to cheer on opponent Erling Haaland following Manchester City’s Champions League elimination on Wednesday.

As City fell to a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to Real Madrid at the Etihad Stadium last week, the Norwegian scored in the first leg for the Blues.
Haaland was one of the substitutes named by Pep Guardiola in this week’s reverse leg, when City lost badly in the play-offs and was eliminated from Europe.
At the Bernabeu, Kylian Mbappe’s hat-trick forced Carlo Ancelotti’s team out of sight, and Nico Gonzalez’s consolation was insufficient to save City.
Haaland had to watch all this from the sidelines, but while he was unable to alter the result on Wednesday, he did send a defiant message to his supporters on Instagram.
The message was directed specifically at the City fan base but Garnacho chose to like the post in an odd gesture of support.
He wrote: “We remain as one, sometimes you have to experience this in life and learn from it, you can’t always win.
We’ll rise again together.”
The rivalry between City and United is obvious, and although many players from both teams socialize with one another in Manchester, few openly promote their friendship on social media, reports Evening News.
