Martin Odegaard, the captain of Arsenal, has been dubbed by Gary Neville as the ‘best in his position’ in the Premier League, following his outstanding performance in the 5-0 thumping of Chelsea.
Football London confirms Neville made these comments after Odegaard contributed two assists in this week’s devastating victory over the Blues, bringing his total goal contributions for the current campaign to 20 in all competitions.
Neville was thrilled by Odegaard’s recent performances and said that they are nothing short of “mesmerizing.” Only Bukayo Saka has more accolades.
With four points separating them from Manchester City and three points ahead of Liverpool, the Gunners lead the Premier League. On the other side, City brag about having two games remaining, which may allow them to pass Arsenal if they win both.

Given that Odegaard is anticipated to play a significant role, the Gunners cannot afford any mistakes in their final four games.
Neville noted on his podcast that the win over Chelsea was “very good, excellent in fact.”
“Some of the football they played against Aston Villa a few weeks ago was excellent in the first twenty-five minutes. And in terms of his style of play, I believe Odegaard has emerged as the finest at that position right now. He is captivating right now.”
“And I felt Chelsea was pretty good, with something to build on and hang your hat on, against Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final on Saturday. And then Arsenal did their job, defeating a poor and under-strengthened Chelsea squad while playing a dominant brand of football.
Mauricio Pochettino then declared, “When we’re terrible, we’re truly bad.” He couldn’t have put it better.”
