Neville, the former Manchester United captain, lambasted the Irons on The Gary Neville Podcast [27 October, 13m 31s] when asked about the home side’s performance.

When asked what he thought of West Ham’s performance, he said “poor”.

Neville continued, “When I saw the first half of the game, I felt they were pretty bad. I mean, West Ham has won the game, so it’s a fantastic day for them, and the fans will be over the moon.

“But they hung in there. [The fans] enjoy the thought of Manchester United losing chances. It boosts your confidence in the stadium. It gives you greater confidence on the field if you’re a West Ham player, but I thought they were dreadful in the first half.

“I don’t believe I’m sitting here thinking West Ham dominated [Manchester United] today. But they’ve won. It was a terrific day for them, and they needed it, but I don’t believe they performed especially well.”
