Steven Gerrard might want to avoid visiting the city of Leicester for a little while after the former England captain called the Foxes “cr*p”.
The LA Galaxy midfielder took part in a ride-along with a young supporter of the MLS side, who asked Gerrard numerous questions about his career.
Leicester’s unprecedented success last season has led to Claudio Ranieri’s side capturing the imagination of football fans all the over the world, including Gerrard’s young interviewer.
The 36-year-old was horrified when the Galaxy fan admitted to him that they wanted to go and play for Leicester.
Gerrard tried to talk his travelling companion out of the decision, before saying that the Foxes are “cr*p”.
Gerrard exclaimed: “Leicester?! Why?! What about Liverpool?
“Or Barcelona, or Real Madrid, don’t go to Leicester, they’re crap!”
It was perhaps not the smartest move by the Liverpool icon, who is now being reminded on social media that Leicester have at least won the Premier League, something Gerrard was unable to do during his time in England.
To be fair to Gerrard the rest of the ride-along goes pretty well, with the midfielder revealing that Zinedine Zidane was his footballing icon growing up, and telling the young fan they could replace him in the Galaxy team.
However, something tells us he won’t be allowed to forget his Leicester remark anytime soon.
