Italy and Sunderland midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini’s agent has said he would welcome a move to Chelsea.
The player is currently playing at Euro 2016, where he is being managed by Antonio Conte, who will take over at Stamford Bridge once their participation at the tournament comes to an end.
And Giaccherini would be more than happy to follow his national boss to west London, according to his agent Furio Valcareggi.
“Conte likes him a lot and Chelsea would be a dream,” the agent told Sport Italia.
“It’s still too early to talk about his future. After the Euros, whoever wants to buy him will not have to pay a high price to Sunderland.”
Giaccherini signed for the Black Cats in 2013 from Serie A champions Juventus. However, he spent last season on loan Bologna after failing to hold down a starting spot.
The 31-year-old has had a fantastic tournament for Italy so far, being part of a team that has gone from no hopers to tournament favourites in two games.
He scored Italy’s first goal of the tournament against Belgium, controlling an inch-perfect cross field pass from Leonardo Bonucci and side-footing it past Blues’ keeper Thibaut Courtois.
His goal has been his only shot of the tournament so far, but he has also created one chance and has an average pass accuracy of 83%.
After their continued battles against relegation in recent seasons, it is expected that Sunderland will want to keep a player of Giaccherini’s quality, but no comment has yet been made by the Stadium of Light club.
