Giggs Gives Insight On Rashford’s Future As Man United Permanent Exit Looms

Ryan Giggs has reportedly claimed that he cannot imagine a future for Marcus Rashford with Manchester United after sealing a loan move to Aston Villa in January.

After being let go by Ruben Amorim, Rashford went on to make an impression at Villa under Unai Emery, and his efforts even earned him a place in Thomas Tuchel’s England team.

It appears that the 27-year-old’s time at Old Trafford may be coming to an end, as Villa have secured first dibs on any permanent transfer and there are rumors that Barcelona are also interested.

According to the Daily Express, on the “Rio Ferdinand Presents” podcast, United legend Giggs bemoaned the situation despite the forward’s recent success since going on loan.

In 2016, while serving as Louis van Gaal’s assistant manager, the former United player recalled with fondness giving Rashford his debut.

Yet, speaking of Rashford’s prospects of returning to United, Giggs stated bluntly on the podcast: “No. I don’t think he looked happy at United.”

He added, “I think he looks happier now. I just don’t. Which is a shame because obviously I’d seen him as a part of the staff when we’d given him his debut.”

He continued with a stern critique, “I talked about no matter what position on the pitch you are, you sprint back as quick as you sprint forward, and aesthetically, it didn’t look great. Especially if the team ain’t doing well.”

Giggs highlighted the importance of effort over skill, adding: “Because fans will forgive you for missing a chance. They won’t forgive you for not working hard enough. They just won’t. Because they can do that. They can sprint. Everyone can.
