Gilchrist talks up Edinburgh motivation

Edinburgh lock Grant Gilchrist says his side are determined to go all the way in the European Challenge Cup this season. Having reached the quarter-finals of the European Champions Cup last term, Edinburgh failed to qualify for the top-tier tournament and begin their journey in the Challenge Cup on Friday night at Agen. With his side preparing to make the trip to the south of France, Gilchrist is looking forward to getting started back in an Edinburgh jersey after a tough World Cup with Scotland in Japan. “This is a new tournament, it’s a tournament we want to do well in,” said Gilchrist. “We’ve got some guys who have not played very much that are bursting at the seams to play, then you’ve got the international guys who are coming back and making their first impressions of the season in an Edinburgh jersey. “We’ve got a highly motivated squad and that will be the case for all the Challenge Cup weeks. We’ve been involved in this tournament a number of times and done well.”
